The first step in selling your product is to create a sales page. Sales page or sales letter are the most important part of your product and website. It will convert visitors into customers. If your sales page doesn’t convince and convert properly, then your product is doomed to failure. You should put as much energy, if not more into creating your sales page then creating your info-product itself.
How to create a sales letter?
You can use a simple sales letter. You can inspire yourself from the numerous successful online product available and just adapt the copy to your product. This is a good example of how a standard sales letter is formated in that order:
- Title (catchy title)
- Subtitle (The main benefit of your product)
- Video (strongly recommend one)
- Buy Now button (Above the fold)
- Problems that your customer is facing (bullet list 3-5 items)
- Tell them briefly about the solution you found, but don’t tell them what it is yet
- Benefits of your solution (bullet list 3-5 items)
- More in-depth details on how your product works in solving their problem.
- Introduce the name of your product here
- Benefits they will get by purchasing your product (bullet points 10-15 items)
- Add urgency and scarcity (limited time offer, price will rise on monday, etc…)
- Your satisfaction guaranteed policy if you have one
- Explain the buying process in details

You want to have a buy now button above the fold, and another one at the very end of your page. Also, every benefits or problems you put in the copy of your sales letter are not things you make out of thin air, those are words for words transcription of what your tribe told you. This is why you want to get in touch with your market when creating the product. They will tell you exactly what they want and tell you the problems they are facing in their own words. Use the exact same words they use when creating your sales page. If they say that they feel overwhelm with the information available. Then use those exact same words in your copy and you will connect with them and your copy will actually convert and make sales.
How to create a video sales letter?
Video sales letter are now everywhere for a reason… they work! There is a huge improvement in conversion when using video and i strongly recommend you to have one on your sales letter. Creating a successful video sales letter is very simple, just read word for word the copy of your sales letter and display the text on the screen as you read it. People will follow along and read on the screen as you tell it, just like a bed time story. It is VERY powerful. I suggest you to use your own voice to build report with your audience and add a few images to lighten up the text. People usually think that it is way more complicated then it is but if you have created your sales letter, it will only take you a few hours to transform it into a good video. This is definitely worth it and it will improve your conversion by a lot. Remember, you want to spend as much time on your sales letter then on your product itself.
Who should buy your product first?
When creating your product, you should have been in constant communication with the people that will ultimately buy it(your tribe). You have build a relationship with them. You have ask them questions on what they wanted and tailor made the product and sales letter for them. Those are obviously the first people you want to reach out to when your product is ready. They are your special first customers. Treat them like gold, listen to their feedback and adapt the product until they are fully satisfied.
How to get more customers and traffic to your site?
The best way to drive traffic to your site and show up in the search results on Google and other search engine is to create a blog like the one you are reading right now! Create value content on the topic of your info-product and write long quality blog post of at least 1000 words. You need to offer really useful information so when people finish reading your content, they want to consume everything else you have to offer. They will start clicking around and they will discover your well designed sales page with your product that resolve all the problems they were facing… Bingo!
I would advice you to start blogging before you begin selling your product so you already have an audience and traffic when you launch. If you were too busy with your product creation, you can always start blogging after, as long as you start! Every time you publish a new post, spend some time promoting it on social media, forums and on related blogs. You should spend as much time promoting your post then creating it.
You don’t want to depend on only one stream of traffic, you need to diversify your strategy. Social Media are the second best way to attract visitors and potential customers to your site. Youtube, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter. The key here is to not spread to thin. Choose one or two medium that you know a lot of your target market hang out on. Focus your energy there and dominate it.
What about podcast?
Creating a podcast is a great way to promote your brand and network with other people in your industry. You can interview leaders and they will most likely promote your interview with their own tribe. Do it a few times and you just got a huge stream of targeted traffic. Over time, this will position you as an authority in your domain. That’s why when creating your product, you want to choose a topic that interest you and is most likely to keep you interested for many years to come.
Email marketing and paid advertising
The next step would be to add an email capture, and have an email sequence that promote your product. Creating an email sequence is a lot easier than most people think. If you need some good example, simply subscribe to a few popular products newsletter and see how they promote their product. Simply adapt it to your own product.
Once you have a good converting email sequence, you can run advertising. Send your paid traffic to a free product that people get in exchange of their email address. Instead of sending traffic directly to your sales page and lose most of the traffic that don’t purchase right away, you can start building and engaging your audience through your email sequence and increase conversion by a LOT. This is usually the difference between a successful advertising campaign and one that don’t work. Just make sure your free product is in line with the product you will end up trying to sell them.
The best place to advertise will vary with the type of product you sell. You can contact the owner of popular website and blogs in the niche you are in and advertise there with a banner. But if you are totally new to advertising a good place to start is with Facebook or google advertising. You can create an ads and have it up and running in a matter of minutes. Drive that traffic to your free offer and let them convert trough your well design email sequence and funnel.
How to increase profits?
The best way by far to increase profit is to sell more products to your existing customer. They already say yes to you and if they like what you deliver them, they will buy again IF you give them the chance. All you have to do is create a line of product that your customer can purchase and is all related to one another. Keep selling to your existing customer, get new customer and see your empire grow bigger!
