I created my first online course over a year ago. After 5 months, it was generating 1000$/month in profits with no advertising.
It was my first stream of passive income and it changed my life. A lot of people ask me how I did it so here it is:
Blueprint to your first 1000$ online
“Start with the end in mind” Stephen R. Covey
Monthly traffic over a year
1. Reach out to your audience
Ask your target market what they want to learn
The first part of the course creation process is to ask your target market what they want and need to learn. There is different way you can go about it.
If you have an email list already built, you can send a email and tell them you are creating a course and ask them what they would like to see in the course.
I didn’t have a list of email when i first started so i went to a forum where I knew all my prospective buyer hangout and ask directly what they wanted to learn. That was going to be the core blueprint for my course.
2. Create the course content
Once I had a list of 15-20 questions, I started writing my course by answering all the questions and grouping them by theme. I also added the content that I judged necessary in order to be successful.
It took me roughly 7 days to put everything i knew into a comprehensive ebook and edit it to the best of my knowledge.
3.Create a sales page
I created a sales page quite rapidly. I inspire myself from other popular sales page on the internet and I adapted it to my need. It was a little bit rough but it worked (I wish I knew optimizepress at that time)
The idea is to clearly tell what is your buyers pain and how’s your product gonna solve that. You also want to answer all the objections they may have in the copy. So once they finish reading or listening to your video, they are ready to buy.
4.Put a buy now button
It took me about 15 days and I had a website, the first version of my course completed and a sales page live.
All that was needed is to put a buy now button and link it to my paypal account and it was all done.
I made my first sales on the first day it went live. This was the most exciting moment and I will never forget it! It basically changed my life.
5. Listen to feedback and improve the product
Because the course was really the first viable product, it was far from being perfect.
Over the following weeks and months, I work at upgrading the course and adding new contents on the site. In fact, I had so much content that search engine started driving all of my traffic and generating all of my sales.
After the 5th month of having my website live, I hit my first 1000$/month in revenue. The site was costing me about 50$/month to run so it was almost all profits.
So thats how you can do it too. Find a market, find what they need, give it to them as quickly as possible, then make sure they are happy.
Now go out and create your own info-product!
Very interesting post
i would like to know, how do you keep yourself organized while working ?! Do you use any app like Evernote for digital files
I use Evernote for everything. I use David Allen “Getting things done” system. So I have an inbox on my evernote, everytime I got something on my mind i create a new entry. Once a day i clean the inbox and put the notes in different other folders. It’s an awesome book if you havent read it, highly suggest it to you.
Thanks. Heard good things about this book and keep seeing his name everywhere recently. The next thing im going to get done is buying the book. 🙂
Great idea!
