What is a niche?
A niche is simply a subject or a common interest that a large enough amount of people are interested in. People living in the U.S is not a niche but people that lives in the U.S, own a bulldog and are republican for example is a much better niche. The more precise is your niche, the more ease you will have to communicate and relate to them. You need to tailor your message to connect effectively with them so the more pinpoint is your niche, the better it is.
How to find a niche?
The best niches are the one you are already interested in. What are your hobbit? what are you working on right now? What kind of information are you researching? You don’t need to have a doctorat to be a leader in your niche. You just need to provide valuable information to a group of people that share the same interest.
Do you read industry magazine? do you read online blogs that talk about a specific subject… i bet you do. Each time you read a blog, that blog is communicating to its niche. Ask yourself who are those people that make that niche? What are the common interest they share? You will start to understand what are niches and see them everywhere.
Interact with your niche.
Once you have found your niche, start interacting with them. You want to start that connection before creating your product. Too many times i see people creating products but they cannot sell them after because they don’t have an audience to sell it to. Don’t make that mistake.
Start making youtube video or write blog post on your subject and host them on your blog. You will start to gather that community around your content. You don’t need to be an expert, people want to hear a fresh take on subjects. You’ll be surprise to see how many people enjoy knowing what you think about on any given subject. Try to be personable and tell them who you are, where you are from, what are your goals, etc… Once they know and like you, they will come back just to know see what you are up to, just like a friend.
Don’t try to reinvent the wheel, just look at already successful blog and see how they interact with their tribes. Use their style if it fits with your personality. Do not worry about writing the perfect blog post when you start. Just write something and hit publish, the next one will be better. Same thing about videos, just press record and publish it on youtube as soon as you can. The real problem is when you keep thinking about something and don’t take action. Just do it. Once you start publishing content, your tribe will start giving feedback on what they want to read or watch. You’ll be able to tailor your content exactly to what your tribe want.
Dominate your niche with video
Now that you have a niche, you need to dominate it. There is multiple things in 2015 that works and youtube video is one of them. 10 years ago, most phones couldn’t load a video. Now, almost all phone have a big screen and video are becoming a huge way to consume content. Youtube is the second largest search engine after Google. If you have a phone that can shoot at least 3mp video you are set. No need to invest in expensive gears at this point. You are just trying out and see what type of content will work best with you and your tribe.
The cool thing about video is that people can see you. They will have an easier time to remember you. The idea is that once they watch or listen some of your content, they want to come back. Try to make it exciting. Don’t talk with a boring voice, try to be expressive and talk from YOUR point of view. No one wants to hear a generic point of view. We all have a special perspective on things and thats what people want to hear. Try to be different and be yourself.
How people can find your video on youtube?
To rank your video is pretty simple, you just need to put in your title the main words that people would look for when searching on youtube. Try to write a long description because youtube cannot watch your video and know what it is about. You need to write it in your description so youtube knows when to show your video when people enter keywords in the search bar.
You can get a nice intro video of a few seconds on fiver for 5$ It will give a nice brand to your video and make it look more professional.
